Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment - Draft Methodology Consultation

We are commencing a public consultation on a technical document relating to the methodology for undertaking a Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment

As you may well already be aware, Councils across Coventry and Warwickshire work closely together to plan for housing and employment needs. Each Local Authority has a Local Plan which sets out a required amount of growth for its area. In delivering sufficient housing and employment land to meet identified requirements it is important that each Local Authority keeps an up to date database of sites, which it needs to assess to see if they are suitable, available and can realistically be delivered to meet the needs of the area. This is known as the Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (HELAA).

It is essential that when Local Authorities look at the detail of how they plan for growth, they do it in line with a common methodology to ensure consistency of approach and understanding. The draft methodology has been drafted by Coventry and Warwickshire Local Planning Authorities to ensure that sites are being assessed within a common framework which accords with the most up to date National Planning Policy and guidance.

Before we finalise this, we would like to give you the opportunity to feed back any comments and we are therefore consulting for six weeks, starting on Wednesday 10th November and ending Wednesday 22nd December 2021.

The Local Authorities involved are: Coventry City Council, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Stratford on Avon District Council, Warwick District Council, North Warwickshire Borough Council and Rugby Borough Council.

Because we all have our own consultation databases (which we cannot share for data protection reasons) we are all consulting individually, but at the same time, so some of you may receive this information more than once. However, we will be summarising and sharing responses with any personal data anonymised, so you only need to submit your response once as any matters you raise will be picked up by all parties.

If you wish to make a consultation response, please could you email this to planningpolicy@warwickdc.gov.uk or write to FAO Ms. Aspia Jannat, Planning Policy Team, Place & Economy, Warwick District Council, PO Box 2178, Riverside House, Milverton Hill, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire CV32 5QH. Please note that we may publish your representation into the public domain.
