The South Warwickshire Local Plan
Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils would like to provide an update on the work currently underway to prepare the South Warwickshire Local Plan.
Following the public consultation which took place on a “Preferred Options” draft of the South Warwickshire Local Plan between January and March this year, work has been continuing to prepare the next draft of the Local Plan for public consultation. This is the “Publication” version which is due to be launched by December 2025 under the current timetable.
For a variety of reasons, there will be a delay to finalise this document and so the Councils will not be producing this document before the end of the year. A revised timetable for the continued work on the South Warwickshire Local Plan will be prepared to be considered by both councils soon.
Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils are working together to produce a new South Warwickshire Local Plan to cover our combined geographic area.
Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils have undertaken an Issues and Options Consultation, Call for Sites and Preferred Options consultation. Feedback has been sought on the proposed draft policies and policy directions as well the emerging spatial growth strategy. It is informed by a wide range of evidence that is available to view on the technical evidence page of the SWLP website.
On 10th January 2025 we launched our South Warwickshire Local Plan Preferred Options (Regulation 18) consultation. Thank you to all those who have made comments. We can confirm that the consultation ended on 7th March 2025 at 23:59pm.
The summaries of the representations have now been published following the Preferred Options consultation. These comments are available to view within the online consultation portal. Instructions on how to view these representations are available on the first page when opening this link. We will now start work on preparing a Consultation Statement that will be published on the website later this year.
Further information on the Preferred Options stage can be found on the Preferred Options Consultation page of this website.
